I have has confirmation that it is a YTS-21 purple logo #B0xxxx.
What's your thought on these horns and purple logo- I have read conflicting information around purple logo being a bit of a 'hype'. This horn is $1000AUD ono
Thanks

My YTS-21's serial number is 0011xx, from 1971. It has the purple logo, but I don't know that it means anything other than identifying horns from a particular era. I couldn't say whether they are better or worse than non-purple one's. At most, just different. But any two horns from the same day of production might even sound different to a highly trained ear.

Regardless, the YTS-21 is a decent sax.

That horn in the photo appears to be in similar shape to mine, perhaps less shiny, but even on SOTW I've seen YTS-21's and even YTS-23's in far better shape, with an overhaul, selling for less than US$500.

the purple logo is definitely a feature that has acquired a status simply because in someone’s book older=better , while it was simply the logo that Yamaha put on a earlier period production (the much rarer silver plated instruments of the same period didn’t have a purple logo because it looked horrible on silver).

A YAS 21 is a good horn but nothing really special, there are tons out there , they used to sell for little money and were never expensive not even new.
