Clamp your keys - use corks or whatever - don't ask at the desk about carrying it on - just try to sneak it on - I didn't take my tenor on my last flight and peope came on with guitars and golf club bags and all kinds of things.

I play a yamaha-62, and I won't even be playing in tokyo, so I can't rent it...
and a bari couldn't possibly fit the dimensions of carry-on, so i won't try the soft case idea...do you have any tips about maybe putting something in the case to keep the keys from shifting around
