Boy, I don't know.. You said be Brutal.. That's 6.5 minutes of my life that I can't get back!!! Why would you post 6.5 minutes of practice??? I was hoping to hear someone playing something.. with alittle heart & soul... Yeah you have good technique. Tone ok..
Maybe you should post a tune..

I like your sound better in this one:

Great technique, and I think the tone is appropriate for the genre. It's not the tone that I personally strive for, but it is focused and fairly even. Work on your altissimo, give it more body. I'd dabble in some more melodic stuff, though. It never hurts to be multi-faceted. What's your setup?

I thought that was quite entertaining (for lack of a better word). I also happen to think John Zorn is a genius so that makes a difference. You definitely know your scales and can actually give them some good musicality. There is nothing wrong with playing melodic stuff but it's nice to hear a little out of the box bravado being pulled off. I too wonder what your set up is.

Hi guys! Cheers for the feedback! Thanks for commenting on it treeblast! Yeah good idea about the altissimo.

fvpennell, this wasn't exactly practice, this was an improvisation I did after a day of sending emails to venues for my band Roller Trio (
).... so hopefully people will hear the frustration in the piece. Don't know what to say to you, we obviously have different tastes. I think some of the most melodic pieces are the more experimental ones. And this definitely was my 'heart and soul' coming through. So sorry about the 6.5 mins.

I play a Yamaha Custom Z, I'm not sure what my mouthpiece is... the writings scratched off, bit annoying I might post a photo on here to see if one of you could help me identify it. I haven't found a better one for me though! Vandoran Java 2.5 reeds... not my first choice but they seem to be the most consistent and I'm a bit poor at the moment. It upsets me when you get a box of reeds and only 2 of them are good.

Could anyone post examples of players with a similar tone that you prefer?

Thanks a lot everyone! Means a lot that people are up for checking out and helping random a fellow musician.

I for one felt you were playing with a lot of heart and I enjoyed your moment.
Your tone is great and I found no problem with your altissimo register. Ya see, everyone has their own take on it and it's fruitless to get bogged
down by anyone's opinions, good or bad.

I also enjoyed your other video very much.
