BTW the "hip and cool" scale is like a diminished scale with a raised 2.5

I think what haku was saying is that if the listener knows the lyric to "You Are My Sunshine" then the instrumental flute part is much more effective. If the listener doesn't know the song, then the emotional impact is lost.
