I was watching a Bob Renoylds Vlog about some concert memorial thing he was doing in LA He mentioned one of his favorite CDs of Chris Potter so I went to I tunes and checked out his CDs I ended upfinding and buying one on that sight that featured David Binney. Man what a player. What a find. Cool player. I'll dive into him for the next month K

Cool! I discovered Binney around 2006 and got obsessed for a couple years. "South" and "Welcome to Life" are my favorites of his, as well as his first eponymous album which is very electric and fusiony. Really cool writing and improvising, very fearless.

I took a lesson from him in 2007 and it was great! A ton has stuck with me over the years as a writer and improviser. He's a very smart guy, he thinks a lot about everything that goes into his music. His writing is very unique, strange, and shamelessly authentic to himself, and I respect that a lot.
