Not a joke, folks. Due to a death in the family, I have received a box full of mouthpieces that go with tenor, baritone, and soprano saxes. The sopranos are easy to separate. However, there are 10 mouthpieces (Selmers, Otto Links, Coufs, Runyans, etc.) which all look about the same size. I know he played tenor and baritone primarily, but I am looking for a way to separate the two types? Are baritones visibly larger than tenors? If so how much? If not, or if there is size overlap, is there a way to tell which instrument they were designed for?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sorry for your loss. Condolences and compassion to your family.

If in doubt about any of them, post the measurements here. There is a large enough community that we can help sort out any questions.

All the best to you and yours,

George

Yeah. I think that’s correct, they are all tenor pieces. Bari HR pieces are often longer and relatively speaking “slimmer” in profile than their tenor counterparts.

A couple of my bari pieces:
Link HR: 5 3/8”
Runyon Quantum: 5 3/8”
Link STM (metal) : 5”

Lengths of Links have changed over the years I believe.
