I just took delivery on a Selmer II alto that I bought off Ebay. It is in better shape than I expected but it still has some tarnishing here and there. Some spots are greenish and other spots are orange in colour. I'm very anal retentive when it comes to keeping my belongings looking as clean and new as possible. I would like to remove the tarnish and possibly wax the sax to prevent the tarnish from returning. I've searched all over the forum and internet looking for guidance but haven't found anything definitive on how to do what I want.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the tarnish without damaging the surrounding untarnished areas? Is it a good idea to do a waxing afterwards and with what? If not, what's the best product to use to keep the sax looking shiny and new...I've heard Pledge being used. How about Simple Green?
Also, what can I use to clean the outside of the case...it's made of a texture plastic I believe.
I apologize for all the questions but I want to go about this the right way without causing additional damage.
Thanks,
Kevin
