How do I try out reeds

Knowing that here in Belgium, you pay at least 10€ for 5 reeds, and 23€ for 10, I was wondering how I can find out what reeds play the best for me. I mean, if you try out and maybe you've lost 10€, plus you have 4-5 reeds that you don't need. Aren't there any "tryout" boxes or something? With all kinds of strengths?

I've played alto for my first 2 years (a rented one) and then went to tenor (which I am still playing). I have a Meyer no. 7 And currently I'm playing on Rico Royals no. 2,5. They are fine, but I still have occasionally a.. well, I don't know how to describe it. Beginners make the same sound when their embouchure is too loose. Oh well, maybe I can exchange some reeds with some fellow sax players...
