I've never done this before: I want to modify a soprano HR Link 10 mouthpiece so that it would sound like a 10*.
I currently play 9*, and have a 10, which I would like to "open up".

Advice, guidance, tips: all welcome.

I doubt that you would notice the difference between a 10 and 10* ... not worth the effort.

since you haven't done mouthpiece refacing before, there is a VERY high possibility of permanently ruining your mouthpiece. if you're willing to risk and you just want to experiment...do some searches on here and on the internet on the topic. i've found that it's really fun to try and work on mouthpieces....despite the usually bad results....i did make a good mouthpiece out of a yamaha 4cm once. it's usually better to start off testing on the cheapest mouthpiece you have...or get some cheap ones that you aren't worried about ruining.
good luck.!
