After many decades of listening to saxophonists I believe the most sublime
sound ever produced from the instrument was when Johnny Hodges was playing it.I know he played many horns from Buescher to Vito.
Does anyone know what his preferred set up was from mouthpiece and reed?Of course the main setup was his wonderful chops but I am curious.

According to Theo Wanne, he played a HR Berg. However, I've seen several pics of him with a white mouthpiece and don't know that Berg ever made a white plastic or HR mouthpiece. It looks more like a stock Buescher mouthpiece than a Tonalin.

Good job, Hamster! Much more than I found.

Yes, i'm going to return to my hamster. He was much fluffier and seemed to get into less arguments than Norman Mailer. :)

Really he played an old HR Berg?
I have a very old slant signature model I don't use.
Maybe it is the same mouthpiece, I don't know.
If you want it or simple desire to see pictures of it please contact me in pvt.
All the best,

Stan
