Regarding the Z tenors, I've played both. My personal view & experience is that each sax, yes even among Yamaha's, differs slightly in personality & character. Some will say that having no high F# makes a difference, however, I don't find that to be my experience. Each horn differs. In fact, I find an even bigger difference among the necks than whether or not the horn has the F# or not.
I'm playing a very special Silver Z with the F# and it kills every Z I've played and I've played several. It outplays my 65 MK VI.
