Help with a Lebayle Metal LR

Hi,
I tried a 8 (110) and had no problems to play in all the register but I did not feel totally confortable with the tip opening (I am used to a 105) and with the sound a little too bright for me. Do you think if I order a 7 (100) or a 7* (105) I could get a little more centered tone with a harder reed?

Thanks

I got a 8 LR metal for tenor , and had to get it tweaked by Mojo to eliminate the major squeaking problem I was having.
Mojo measured the tip, and it was actually 102; this could just be an inconsistency in the manufacturing process or an anomaly, as I was expecting something like 107 or higher.
The profile felt a little weird for me initially after coming from a JJ ESP or a metal Link, but I am now used to it.

As far as sound goes, the seeming brightness may be due to the type of reed you are using. The LR sounded somewhat bright and thin on the upper register when I used a DC #3 reed on it, but sounds really full with a thick core across all registers ( almost approaching a Barone Jazz) when I switched to the Vandoren blue-box reed ( using a 2.5 or 3 ).
Hope this helps with addressing your questions
