I unfortunately do not live near any music shops that sell high quality mouthpeices, so i'm stuck between my Meyer 6m and my Vandoran T55 Java. I cant seem to get enough air through the meyer and is uncomfortable to play, but all the notes on the keyed range are completely in tune on my Mark VI, and the Vandoren is easy to play but keeping notes in tune are impossible, I just want to know what specs for mouthpeices i should be looking for, such as chamber size, facing length, Etc.

Thanks

Maybe before getting a new piece you should try harder reeds. What strength are you playing now?

This was suggested in the other thread the OP started about this same problem. I don't think they want to avail themselves of that option and just REALLY want a new mouthpiece.
So was making sure the sax was completely free of leaks or any other mechanical issues.

If there are no "local" shops that carry "High Quality" mouthpieces you can order a few ON TRIAL from WWBW (WoodWind and BrassWind) in Indiana.
If you don't like them you can send them back and try a few more. Keep what you like.

We have NO CLUE as to what YOU are looking for in a mouthpiece. Only that you think the Meyer is too hard to blow, and you can't control the Java. What do you want... Darker tone, Brighter tone, More free blowing, Less free blowing...
Let us know when you figure it out.

I actually didnt think the first one posted because I couldn't find where I posted it, so I posted this one and then found my other one so I feel kind of dumb now lol, but i figured out that I just needed stronger reeds, and I have been practicing long tones and over tones for longer recently and I feel more improved as well. As far as a tone goes I'm happy with my tone on the Meyer with the new reeds, but I'm trying to get a Paul Desmond kind of sound, and my Meyer let's me get the warm tone I'm looking for to an extent, but not dark.
