I've seen previous threads via my search. However they are all from years ago & there maybe new cases available today.

I wanted a new Soprano case for my 1976 Mark Vi. I ordered a Protec & was not impressed :( I wasn't able to securely fit the Soprano without significant movement... so I'll be returning it.

What are my other options? I realize I may need to spend more money, if so I can save up and buy one down the road. I loved the BAM case for my Tenor, do the BAM cases properly fit and secure a Mark Vi Soprano? It needs to have storage room for my Neck strap, Reeds & mouthpiece.

The current case hardly fits a tic tac...

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help!

I kept mine in an Anvil Calzone case. They had a fire sale for these things some years ago, and they may not be making them anymore. But with a K&M in the bell stand, it fit my VI soprano like a glove. I sold mine a few years ago, but if you can ever find them, there is no better protection for your horn.

Neck strap with a MarkVI? You'll end up playing it with a clarinet embouchure angle.
As much as I dislike it the Protec it's probably your best choice.

I appreciate the concern regarding a neck strap!
Thats not going to happen however. I will still play angled upwards. Ensuring proper embuchure and angle. With a neck strap it stabilizes it some and takes a little pressure off my thumb (hurts after an hour of playing)

Had experience with this when using my cheap loaner sop while I awaited my vi.

I've ordered a strap connector from Oleg so I can use a strap on the vi. I want the ability to play several hours a day (it's my only horn now)

I'll look into the Eastman cases! Thank you for that suggestion:)

Protech works fine for me with a bit of extra padding. I use micro fibre towels, a bit of foam and my horn towel on top..tight as a drum..if you need a stronger road type case yeah that is a different story, The Protech I do like for my local jobs, very comfortable and light to carry.

I had a BAM Trekking case for many years. Seemed to fit every soprano including a couple VI sopranos I owned. I use a ProTec now. Once I figured out the block placement it works great.

Received my Bam Trekking soprano case yesterday. Fits my VI perfectly with way more protection and storage than the stock case. I ordered from Great Violin Cases (no connection) which has them for $287 instead of $400-something. Highly recommended.

I looked at the BAM trek case, glad I chose a Protech. Here's my reasons, the Protech's shape is uniform and a color which I like, also it has a single adjustable shoulder strap which I find very useful at times.

I like the soft canvas construction with no hard edges, also the soft strong handles which (if you accidently don't zip) are designed to keep the case closed when picking it up. This is important.

I've had mine a long time, I've carried it on hundreds of jobs and it's still in great shape, I remember it cost around $200 new. Storage in a Protech is a bit long and thin, but it will hold a lot of stuff if you pack it right.
