Hey all,

I am a sophomore in high school auditioning for a wind ensemble opportunity that would take place next summer. My issue is that I'm not sure what excerpts to select. They have asked me to only choose from:

-A work from Selected Studies for Saxophone (Voxman)
-Sonata for Alto Saxophone (Creston)
-Alto Saxophone Concerto in E-Flat (Glazunov)

I am auditioning on alto, and I will have two minutes to display a range of styles from these selections. I've got about a month to prepare my audition, is anyone familiar with these pieces that can point me in the right direction excerpt-wise? The audition is extremely strict, and I'm wondering if there's a "correct" excerpt to choose...

Also, they are requiring that I bring two legal copies of these pieces. Will I have to buy two copies of each, or is there a work around?

Any tips would be appreciated!

Have you played these? Play them all.
Audition the one you play the best.

Or the flashiest one you can play Very well.

Yes, buy two copies.

Take your horn to the local music store, and read through the pieces that they have in stock. Else, listen to them online to hear whether something is interesting to you.
