They told me to wait in the car, but it's too dark to read
You've been playin' in that sandbox for way too long
So far away in a country with a name I can't even say
It's like... meeting you for the first time- again

At first it's a homecoming, it's been so long
As we both try to change our routines
As time goes by and we both try to settle in
And I can only wonder what you've seen

As you take your place at the table, it's been empty for so long
I can see your clear blue eyes that used to be so full of life

Are you tired now, and weary from the pain that pierces your heart?
Can I be strong for you? You always are for me

It's written all over your face
Looks like you've been everyplace
It's written all over your face
Looks like you've been everyplace

You stand there at attention while I gently weep
And you turn your head and just walk away
You knowlingly tear my heart right in two
It's like losing you.... for the first time- again

And I'll take my place at the table, yours is empty again
I'll remember your clear blue eyes that used to be so full of life
Are you tired now, and weary from the pain that pierces your heart?
Can I be strong for you? You always were for me

It's written all over your face
Looks like you've been everyplace
It's written all over your face
Looks like you've been everyplace

The sacrifice is incredible...and so hard for all involved. Great tune, Sonja.
Thank you GT- it's the most emotional tune I ever wrote.
