I have three Bergonzi CD's, and On the Brink isn't on any of mine, but i do know that On the Brink is part of his book Melodic Structures Vol. 1. There is no melody provided in the book, just changes, as well as a slow and fast play-a-long with rhythm section only.
Not quite correct: it's an actual head JB wrote over Confirmation changes that he's recorded a couple of times.
Saxgirl07: One place I've found a snippet of it is here: it's Amazon's page for his CD "Lineage" -- a great CD that is of course out of print. The (crummy sounding) snippet takes place during the solo, so you won't hear how JB phrases his head (which I'm assuming has been provided to you), but you will get tempo information.
I found a copy of the tune covered by another artist, and it lists Bergonzi as the composer of the tune... its on Emusic..on the Bob Montgomery - Al Hermann quintet album titled "On the Brink".. it can be found here.. http://www.emusic.com/album/The-Bob-Montgomery-Al-Hermann-Quintet-On-the-Brink-MP3-Download/11029891.html ... you can just download the cut if you have an emusic account, or if you don't.. you should open one.. its a great service with a huge jazz selection.
and another cover of the tune...by the group Five Play (which is made up of members of the Diva Big Band...Karoline Strassmayer and Laura Dreyer) Cd titled "On the Brink" also .. actually this whole album sounds pretty cool from the previews..
