I've been reading through the 'nino forum a lot lately, and whenever someone mentions sopraninos from RS Berkeley, Allora, International Woodwind, Kessler, or P. Mauriat, someone else usually responds something along the lines of, "It's the same horn," or "they're all made in the same factory," and to buy whatever's available/cheapest. What doesn't seem to come up is, has anyone actually compared one model to the next?

I assume the various companies put their own finishing touches on the horn before selling, but I guess I could be wrong. Does one company put more into the final setup than the others? Is the Mauriat really worth an extra ~$1300 than the others, which all seem to sit around the $2000 mark? Are the parts interchangeable from one to the next? In short, has anyone actually compared these "all the same" horns side by side?

I have owned the Allora and the RS Berkeley...they really are the same horn. I can only speculate on the Kessler. The others I can't say.
