I hope we can all enjoy some kind of extra treats, despite the Isolation, this Easter holiday. Maybe cook up some Easter Eggs? I tried the 6 minute boil routine but left the eggs a minute too long. They were still pretty good.:)

Happy easter everybody!
normaly I would join at least one of the Bach concerts in church - but not this year. Making music alone seems the way to go now.
I just multitrack-recorded the soprano aria "Ich folge dir gleichfalls mit freudigen Schritten" from the St.Johns-Passion. Instruments are flute, bassoon, and soprano sax as substitute for voice.

Despite from the many intonation issues - enjoy!

my father had alzheimer's. Hence he could hide his own easter eggs...

Huh. It takes me approximately 20 minutes to hard boil eggs.

It is Creamed Eggs on Toast Day!

Happy Ishtar!

Going to gather some fresh mint, and put some apple blossoms in a vase, too.

Not going to color any eggs this year, tho.

Very nice Taragot! The bassoon sounds solid and the flute flows beautifully, the sop sax is what you battled most on the intonation issues you mentioned but the tone is very appropriate for Bach as it almost sounds like a higher pitched double reed horn, oboe and/or Cor Anglais. Happy Easter to you!

I like my boiled eggs soft, for breakfast. The hard boiled ones, after your 20 minutes, go in the fridge and make good snacks.

Happy Easter. Giant ham is in the oven as we speak.

Foolproof boiled egg recipe:

Bring water to a boil, enough to cover eggs
gently lower each egg into the boiling water with a spoon, to prevent bouncing and cracking
boil an additional 1 minute
remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 14 minutes.

Center will be done, green patina should be minimal, the white will be fluffy, not rubbery, and they will peel easily.

I use HOT water out of the faucet, lower eggs into the hot water, bring water to a boil, turn heat down to barely simmering, for 20(1 or 2)minutes.

If you've got a "multi cooker" they are very good for boiled eggs as well. These are really useful devices, probably worth getting for the ease with which they make risotto alone, and the price keeps coming down. Basically, you put your eggs on a small rack, pressure cook for about two minutes, then drop 'em in a bowl of ice water for a minute or two to cool. Works great.

I got the Instant Pot from Amazon when they had their intro sale for 49.95 and it's gotten to the point where it is about all I am using, eggs (just use the "steam" setting), chow for the pups, beef and lamb shanks, you name it. And no more "oh crap, I forgot I had something on the stove..."

And Happy Easter from blizzardy Colorado! We had a power outage around 4:30 this morning for about 2 hours, no heat no nothing but it's all back now, fire place is burning and I got HOT coffee!

Your analysis is spot on - as always lambros! After playing this legere signature reed for years now on soprano, I think it's too soft for classical playing and slapped on another one with the same number on it but new. Played the soprano part one more time and now the intonation is a bit more stable.

Taragot, that sounds wonderful! I know you like using the same S80F and you approach it as an all purpose soprano mouthpiece. Maybe one day, at least for playing Bach and other baroque composers, a slightly smaller tip opening might interest you because the vibrato will be less wide and intonation will be more emphasized and easier to play as well. A slightly harder reed of course. Thanks for wishing me a Happy Easter as well; this year the Greek Orthodox calendar has Easter on 4/19 which is when my family and I will celebrate. I hope you made the most of your Easter with your family and your playing made my day!
