Today is Stan Getz's "The Sound" Birthday 02/02/1927. The man truely had a great gift. Personally I loved his sound. A very nice bio is on his web site run by one of his daughters, Bev.

Check it out a very nice tribute to a great player. When I grow up I want a sound like his. Big, warm and distinctive.

I always dug Stan Getz for an absolute purity of sound and harmonic weight. Nothing in the world everlike him again. EVER!!

Stan Getz is the matrix of modern jazz, an inarguable genius.Once you hear/study how Stan plays a melody into a solo
you'll have a better understanding of the sublime design of Stan's lifelong inventiveness at its apex.

A man who for sure was at one with the music. HAPPY BIRTHDAY STAN.
