One of my all-time heroes, Michael Brecker, would have been seventy-one years old today. It seems like an appropriate time to post something I've been working on for a while. This is my first full Brecker transcription: I've learned snippets and licks but never attempted an entire solo before this one, but after being obsessed with the fantastic Jim Beard record "Song of the Sun" and Michael's phenomenal playing on it, I was driven to learn this one as well as I could.

Listening back to it, I think I got a couple notes wrong. There are a lot of notes. Sue me. :-*

My ultra-brilliant keyboard-jedi friend Henry Hey introduced me to this album, and for that I'm forever grateful! Thank you, Jim Beard, for writing, orchestrating, and producing such an under-recognized masterpiece of modern jazz fusion.
