Happy Anniversary, Your Maj

Well, it's 60 years this week since Queen Elizabeth II got married, and here's a pic of the gig my dad did to celebrate the wedding in 1947 (Martin Committee tenor sax, extreme right).

I'm still playing the tenor, though the mouthpiece and lig are in the drawer. Have just reconditioned the clarinet. The stand is still going strong, and I use the sling on my soprano. Nothing like a bit of continuity.

The tuxedo is long gone - if I dressed like that people would think I was Klaus Nomi.

Who was EW and where was the photo taken?
Brenda still rules.
"EW" was Eric Witheyman (drums) who later made some commercial recordings. Other personnel Perce Griffiths (piano, who led his own bands before the war and up to the 60s), Ron Witheyman (acc), Les Dow (tpt) and Sid Goldberg (alto). Picture was taken at the Lion Hotel, Guildford.

Who was Brenda?
