My local music store somehow acquired a lightly used Taishan bari sax.
I figured it was a great opportunity to try one out, rather than sending money to an unknown ebay seller.
The instrument was in mint condition, no dents, no scratches. Came with two necks and a new ProTec case.

I'm not a bari player, but was able to play thru the whole range, and in tune immediately. It was great!
Managed to purchase the instrument for $1200 on a zero interest installment plan for a year.
I can only compare the build quality to the only other horn I own, a Yamaha YTS 62 III.
This horn appears to be every bit as good.

I figured I saved at least $2000, compared to any of the used Yamaha bari saxes I've seen on ebay.
Just another endorsement, don't write these horns off as junk.

Did you notice the low A key sticks out a bit too far and the thumbhook is too high? It feels like once I fix those things, it'll be great. It plays well, those two issues are just really getting in the way at the moment.
