Hal Willner has been taken from us. Sigh...

This visionary producer created some of my all-time favourite albums, with that awesome Monk tribute, the Mingus album, and so many more.

And, from initially surprising source material, Stay Awake, another triumph.

I own the Edgar Allan Poe and Mingus albums, the Harry Smith Project, and the two Rogues Gallery albums. All are absolute killers! Unique takes on a lot of standard material with a good bit of weirdness to keep it interesting.

Wish I could find the Monk and Kurt Weill albums for a reasonable price.

RIP Hal Willner.

He was brilliant and you should check out the Amarcord Nino Rota as well.
Happily this is out there, I used to have and constantly play this LP.
