I need to find a mouthpiece for the soprano that gives me a FAT jazz sound. Im using a stock mouthpiece and it is not fat enough for my needs can you guys help me out? I want to know which mouthpieces provide that type of sound and where I could get one.

Thanks :)

Super Session. As big a tip opening as you can control. I play the J and it is the best sop set up I have played yet.

RPC Roll Over Baffle all of the way!
If you can find an RPC. Ron doesn't make soprano pieces.

Barone Vintage for me.

Oh...

I did not know that. Could you imagine one though? I would have to agree with you though on the Baron Vintage. They are perfect for older jazz pieces, and I mean perfect. Similar to the RPCs.
I saw one on ebay, I got outbid. Ron says he used to make them, but they're just too much trouble.

Ron has made some soprano pieces and I've had one for quite some years now and it is indescribable. It measures .090, low rollover, fat, rich, powerful and versatile. Nobody has enough money to ever tempt me to sell it. Goes right to hell with me.

I'll second the Barone Vintage and raise you a Morgan Vintage...both should give you a nice fat sound...

Don't deny they exist. I just know Ron is not presently make them.

I asked.

I'd recommend either a Bari, one of my Vintage models, or the Selmer. Get a large opening but not too large or you'll find yourself fighting the pitch. Play a softer reed and take more mouthpiece in your mouth.
