Does anyone know about a good forum for guitars and effects, similar to SOTW but with a lot of people with experience with different effect pedals etc.?

Harmony Central, they have several forums and subforums like SOTW. I am a guitarist and am a member there as well as The Gear Page and Seymour Duncan forum as well as the Jackson Charvel Forum and Jemsite. It's a wonder I have time to come here as I play guitar and sax in the same band (only not at the same time).
