It is a TON more open, although the huge baffle will offset that some. But it will be a completely opposite piece soundwise.

I was thinking about buying one of these and just wonder what the facing is compared to my tone edge 5?

I tried one of these once, and it felt very similar to a Berg 130/0 M (actually measures at .122) that I have. The berg is one of the older, long table, slightly smaller diameter models, which translates into a smaller chamber -- I believe.

Definitely one of the loudest available, I think. I recall thinking the Berg had a little more body, but that might have been because I was used to it. Also, the reed I tried on it was a plasticoat, which generally are rather thin sounding compared to rico royals (or an equivalent).

I played it on a couple of late '40's super 20's at the time. I was very impressed with the volume it put out.

I just bought one on ebay, too, and am waiting for it to arrive.

When I had my lazer trimmed model (about 6-7 years ago), it was listed as haveing a .145 tip. I think it was really about .125-.130. That's still a pretty big difference from a Link 5 whick would be about .80.
