I bought a HCI alto a few years ago with greenish lacquer. My thought was that it was an old relacquer or a bare brass horn that was lacquered later. The engraving is not cut through but is sharp.

Then I ran across a Handcraft Committee II with green lacquer that from the picture looks like original. Eg. Look at Martin letters. It also green.

Anyone ever seem this before? Does the Martin lacquer sometime turn green or is something else going

Picture below of my HCI Alto and HC Tenor I I ran across.

From the title I was expecting army green or something lol. I have seen more than a few old saxes get that greenish-brown hue after many years. I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with how it's been stored, not sure about that. But it definitely happens, so you are not alone.

You were thinking something like the below? Sorry to disappoint.

My alto definitely has a translucent green color. It looks kind of garish with the nickel silver key work though definitely not to the degree of the Buescher Steaight Alto
