I saw this thread about HUTMOs new Conn 10M which is absolutely stunning, and the case is beautiful!!!

I am very proud of my case as well. Vintage cases are overlooked, so I was wondering who else had case they were particularly proud of. Here is mine.

I would be proud of my alto case, if it wasn't,.... purple,....and leather.... I Hate that case! But yours is amazing! What year?
Vintage Case Restoration?

I have the original case that came with my 1929 Chu Berry Alto - interior purple velvet is in fairly good shape, exterior not as good, but still has original Penn State banners on the outside - needs some restoration of some of the hardware, the handle, and mostly the edges of the wood case have the outer covering worn off. Here are a few shots:

Case w/banners:

I'd like to keep this case, but fix it up in close as possible to original condition. Does anyone restore vintage cases?

So that the usual Selmer brigade doesn't have to post,
Not as good as a MkVl case.
or an SBA case, with the clarinet space in the lid ;)

What a cool case! I have a cream colored old Selmer alto sax Flight case, which I like. Contrary to the new ones, it even provides good protection.

Buescher case.

Couesnon case.

I also have an old Keilwerth two tone green case that's very coolio.

I'm a case junkie too. I try to have every horn in the original case. One of the nicest is a 1918 curved King soprano wiht a near perfect case. Two weeks later I bought a matching straight one just because the cases matched. I have bought horns just for the case.
If I were to replace the interior material with a similar material in the same color on my Conn case (shown above), plate the hardware and fix up the exterior covering, would that still qualify as an "original case" or would most folks who care about such things see that as a "re-case" ala "relaq?"
Do it. I fix the outsides of cases. I use Elmer's plastic wood filler to fill in the tears, sand and respray with a vinyl flat black paint. Looks better than "rustic".
I found this nice link to some SUPER cool King cases. Check out the 1954 selection. Love the red and black theme.

I was also wondering if anyone might know who does really good case restoring?

Thanks in advanced.
A vintage Leblanc alto case. Unfortunately it doesn't fit my vintage Leblanc alto!? The case won't close with my horn in there. Anyone happen to know what horn this case could have been made for? The interior shade of blue is represented better in the third pic than in the second, overexposed pic.

That is one they had in the mid to late 60s when I sold Leblanc. I think they discontinued them about 1967.
Is there any way to discover the age of my case?? I assumed it was 60/70's. But, is there a site anywhere with those details?

I have a 1930's Selmer Cigar Cutter Alto and Soprano case that needs restoration.

Are there any craftsman out there that could restore old cases, or build reproductions of old style cases, or just custom build new tweed and vinyl copies?
