I got to play my new Bundy Special tenor last night, and I'm really excited about this sax! I can see why these are "sleepers": the key work is awesome and you can tell right away what a top rate sax this is. It dates from 1965, but to me the feeling is very contemporary.

I used my Link last night, but I'm thinking that my Morgan 8L is a good match for this horn.

I'm likely going to have to get some pad work done on it--different resonators and more open keys--but I'm still really happy.

Also...cudos to seller SpiderJames: the horn received some damage during shipping, and Spiderjames dealt with it in top notch fashion.

Bundy Special and Dick Stabile tenors: I guess I like stencils!

Peace,

Rory

Thanks for the good word. I'm glad you like the horn. I agree with you on the stencils. They are a great way to get a pro horn on a budget. This particular horn played better than the tone king series III that I had. It should serve you well.

Bundy Special

I picked one up in an antique store. Out back in an open ended shed. It needs about one hundred dollars worth of work to get it into playing condition. I looked at it a couple of different times and kept on going when I made out "Bundy". One day I looked a little closer and noticed rolled tone holes so I took a closer look. I could make out "Bundy Special" and I turned it over and discovered that it was German made. I may put it into playing condition so as to determine it's value to me. My stencil of choice is an SML.

Definitely worth putting into playing condition for $100.00. These are on par with New kings and Couf Superbas. I think the Bundy name is all that keeps them from being in the $1200.00-1400.00 range.
