Great Music Stores in NYC

Recorded music? Instruments? Sheet music?

For band instruments, check out both Sam Ash and Rod Baltimore's on 48th St. near 7th Avenue (directly across the street from each other), and Roberto's on 46th Street (above Rosie O'Grady's Bar).

For sheet music, and lots of good transcription books, check out Colony Music on Broadway and 51st St. (or thereabouts). Sam Ash has this as well, but not as much.

For recorded music, the big stores have closed, alas, due to the explosion in online music. If there's a good used LP store I'm overlooking, I apologize.

Perry Ritter (look him up on the web) also sells saxes in midtown Manhattan. I thought his prices were a bit more reasonable than the 48th St. gang (and Roberto's).

Robertos on 46th is yuor best bet.

Great reed selection along with some very very good buys on cases and accessoires. You'll find a great selection of mouthpieces too, from vintage to the out of the box MOR stuff.

Something for everyone and a FULL REPAIR staff from Roberto to Tony and a few new guys.

You can't go wrong and.....you'll be back once you go there. OH YEA
