Trying to learn Lester Young's 'Shoe Shine' solo with Count Basie's band. I can't find it but for one instance on YouTube. Is there a simple way to grab and save that audio? Kinda like a screen capture? If not, I'll use a separate recorder. Quality's not critical, I just need to use Amazing Slow Downer to study that solo. I'm on a Mac btw (of course!).

Delete "ube" from the URL (so it should look like https://www.yout.com/watch?......) then hit enter. You can have the option to save as mp3 (audio) or mp4 (video).

You can also use any Youtube to MP3 converter (online) that strips the video from the clip and isolates the sound track as MP3 which can then be downloaded. It doesn't work with some copyright protected clips and there is a time / length limit (no files of more than 1 h) But Dave's minus the ube is a much easier way and you are not constantly asked to download some stupid software (you can ignore it anyway).

The only problem I have with the Yout.com link is that the downloads appear dog slow

That might be your internet connection- I get songs to download (mp3) in only a few seconds.

I've been using (free) Clip Grab and the sound seems to be better than this method. Of course, Ute.com is much faster. I'll have to do a few more to determine if my initial impression is only a fig newton of my imagination. Thanks, Dave.

That's what I get with the Youtube to MP3 converter, but maybe after you posted here too many people jumped on their service and they bogged down on their end. I had a 5 min Eric Marienthal clip and it took about 15 minutes to download. I mean, the principle of operation is the same, it is just the free converters are all over the place wheras Yout.com looks like a single domain/back-end computer and the speed depends on the number of users.

Not sure if the OP realises that the YouTube video itself has its own Slow Downer feature up to 25% of the normal speed. When you bring up the toolbar at the bottom by pointing to it, on the right there are some different choices, the closest left is the settings which you press and above a box comes up which includes playback speed which you choose. So you can study right off the YouTube itself.

I always use this online site:

Same here except sometimes there are copyright restrictions and you have to go to another, similar service until you find one that works around it. I primarily use this when I head up the mountains where I don't even have text service at the cabin so I need a local copy if I want to practice.
