I was initially surprised and dissapointed when I tried it against my Vandoran M 15/13. I used my Van V 12 3.s on both and the Borbeck had a smaller tone and was harder to play. Thats exactly the opposite of what I experenced a couple of weeks ago when Trice came over with his. So , I did both pieces on a recording. Then out of curiosity I tried the Borbeck with a Van V 12 #3 reed and what a sweet tone and big. So, maybe my intial impressions isn't the best after all. I had emailed Robert that I might need this piece tweaked to play easier but maybe not. Maybe just a few hours/days on it with a 3 reed. Cool. this tone reminds me of the big bore tone I got from various clarinets in the past but without all the intonation issues. But practice will tell. K

I ended up selling that to my teacher. I have been on an M 15 13 and am thinking seriously about an M30 .Darker tone, fatter, easier to go beteen notes. K
