We finally found ourselves a new bass player and this time around we've decided to play some standards. Before I played guitar and sang, And then we played mostly original songs. But now I want to play some sax aswell.

The setting is a standard jazz quartet drums, bass, piano, alto sax

So far I managed to find a couple of songs with pretty easy changes (The pianist is not that comfortable with to much subs and weirdiness right now)

I thought of:
The shadow of your smile
Bye bye blackbird
there will never be another you
autumn leaves
black orpheus
take the a train

I would like some help with a couple more tunes!

Try looking through the listings for songs in the Real Books, New Real Books and, probably most fitting for you, The Standards Real Book. In fact, you'll be mostly set up if you just buy the last one. Most of the chords in these books are easy to follow and your pianist can learn "subs" as they go along and get more comfortable with the standard chords.

Of course, there'll be some transcribing for sax to do (unless you're uber-riche and can afford the Bb and/or Eb versions on top of the C version), but there's no harm in that.

Something I did (er-hem; many years back now) when first trying to work out what songs to put into a set list, was go to the venues that you'll be expecting to play in round your area and see which songs that the other bands do go down well with each audience. This will also let you know if any of the songs you plan to do are particular to your setlist, as it's nice to have some songs that you're known for which others don't do on a local circuit (helps get re-bookings if you're just a little different/stand out).
