I play a John Thomas .078 and it's LOUD when I push it but it can also be warm. These things are becoming popular down at UM and around some of the colleges here in town.

Probably you are talking about tenor... Aren't you? I'd suggest a Vandoren HR V16 T7... You can't go wrong... About $100 new...

I'll 3rd a V16, with a meyer type sound, or a Java/Jumbo for a more edgy dukoff type sound. You can find these on the market place for under $100

Hi selmartaynor try a Otto Link hard rubber Tone Edge in a 6* tip opening. Also check out Meyer 5 large chamber medium facing hard rubber mouthpiece. I have both for tenor and the Meyer is loud.

Loud, did you say LOUD?? Try a Claude Lakey 8*3 or 9*3. These mouthpieces are a weapon and can easily peel wallpaper, and only cost about $60.

For a very long time I played a Rico Jazz hard rubber mouthpiece. I think it was a seven. Played like a Meyer, but that was just for me.
