Pretty shocked nobody's mentioned this one yet... Kurt Rosenwinkel and Mark Turner.

Kurt has an album called "The Next Step" that is mind-blowing, and Mark Turner's album "Dharma Days," with a similar lineup, is similarly killing. Mark and Kurt are on both records, plus bass and drums.

"Dharma Days" is, tragically, out of print, but it looks like you can download the album from Amazon in MP3 form. (Lucky for me, I got the hard copy when I could.) Warner Brothers should be ashamed for letting Mark's music go out of print like that.

Check out John Scofield with Lovano from the 90s.
Yes, those are great.
Also, the Kurt Rosenwinkel CDs with Mark Turner on tenor are fabulous. Also, the Jerry Bergonzi CDs with John Abercrombie on guitar. I love this kind of quartet.
