i just got a gold plated comm II tenor but it looks like the upper part of thebody is slightly bent. I am planning on getting a complete overhaul, is it possible to also get the horn bent back straight or should i leave it? does it affect the sound?

You can get it straightened easily as long as the tech knows what they're doing :)
I don't know if it affects the sound so much as the correct fitting of keywork and seating of pads- a bend in the body can effectively shorten the distance between 2 posts.
You've got such agreat horn there, it would be such a shame to not get it done properly.
If I've learnt one thing about getting my horns repaired it would be to not get half-arsed repairs done. Get it done once, and get it done properly. A great overhaul will last years and save you time and money in the long run.

thanks for the advice... my tech is really awesome.. just never asked him about straightening the body. it just bows a little at the top section, from the octave key upward maybe. It didn;t come with a neck but i just ordered two phil barone necks, one silver and one lacquer, hopefully they will fot on and sound nice.

Yep. I had a tenor that was bent like that and I just bent it back myself... no tools, just me and the tenor. The trick was making sure I knew which way it was bent and bending it back slowly checking key movement. I don't recommend this for everyone, but to it is possible. If you DO try it and hopelessly mess up your horn, don't say I didn't warn you this is not easy.

I had a Selmer MKVI Bari Sax overhauled for a school I used to teach. Its body tube was bent like a banana.

In my case, it cost a pretty penny, but the school fronted the moolah so it got done. Played impeccably after the overhaul.

yeah, i won it last week, got it for $483 plus shipping, so i think it was around $513 total. i had no idea it was gold plated..
From the pic on ebay i thought maybe it was gold spray paint.. maybe so did everyone else, it went so cheap...

i put an old king neck on it and it does play about 75%. it does not have resonator pads, but that will change soon., and some of the keys are sticky..

I bought two barone necks, one silver and one lacquer, and am going to put one of them on it.. unless i can find a Martin neck., gold plated.. that would be miracle, which i do believe in.

Thanks for all the advice.. i had my wife drop it off at my tech today, so when he gets in Monday i'll be calling to give him the scoop on it.
