Phase one of my Borgani Ponzol restoration is now complete. I have just received back from Karsten Gloger the neck that he has Re-made for me in Silver.

I am over the moon with the results. The response and feedback is excellent . The tuning throughout the whole horn, Inc altissimo is perfect. The quality of sound is huge and colourful.
Karsten Gloger's workman-ship has exceeded my expectations. While playing it... I was finding it very hard not to smile ! Simply stunning, I love it.

Nice job 'ManEast' I remember you telling us about the accident.
But you know the original design/placement of that neck brace is doing no good at all, it creates a very weak spot just above the tenon ring--exactly where it "concertina'd" before.

Hi Bop.

As I understand it the brace is there to prevent what we call "pull down" ...and I have to say, In day to day use it feels to me like it is doing it's job. If you had seen what hit this, you would see that it had no chance !... however it was made.

I am glad you like it. I think Karsten did a Fantastic Job.

Hi Dave

Yes...I sent him the old neck,( pic #1 ) he then took off the neck brace, arm & arm mech along with the tenon ring ( so it still has the S/number on it. ) He then made a new tube out of silver. Then put all of the old Ponzol stuff back on.
He is a very helpful guy. Every time I sent an email , he got back to me the same day. He even sent me an email to ask if I wanted the old brass Ponzol bits polished or left Vintage.

Sorry if you've mentioned this before, but I was wondering if you'd asked whether Borgani could repair the body for you?

Hi Dave .

Hope all is good with you.

I did think about taking it to Italy ...I am not sure how they would feel about it. If It was the Jubilee they would prob be O.K about it. I have sent two emails to them in the past Re- the Ponzol. I got no reply.
I would not just send it !

I'm good thanks.

I really hope it works out for you. That's a great horn and I remember how special you felt it was.

Odd that they never replied. The eccentricity of 'artists' ?..........

Nice pics, and a great job by Karsten. I cant wait to have a close look and see what it blows like or your jubilee.

Re the mandrel - I'm certain the Boehm sax body mandrel sections ( I'm treating myself to a full set for xmas BTW) will do the job.

Glad you're happy with it mate it looks fantastic.
