I just got one of these for my alto and it's pretty nice. Comparing it to my very old C*, maybe a little brighter, very easy to play up and down the scale. I think it's a nice beginner and up alternative to the 4c and it's pretty fun looking too. Take my opinions at your own risk, I haven't been playing that long.

Tempted to get one for my tenor since it needs a little brightness. From what I read the Runyon is well regarded and compared to Brilhart Ebolin.

Thinking of trying the Vandoran mix pack of reeds with this mouthpiece. I've been playing rico orange 2, should I stick with that strength or go to a 2.5? This has a 0.63 tip. I'm a beginner.

you wont believe how many mpcs runyon was making for other people when they closed up. i acquired a large lot of leftover clarinet mpcs when runyon contents were auctioned off. morgan protone and ridineour and selmer usa were just some of the rinyon made mpcs in my lot. jody jazz and giglioti also. of course i wanted sax mpcs but couldnt win a single lot at auction.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. I'll try the 2's.

The modern Ebolins were made for Selmer by Runyon. Other than the white bite insert, it's the same mouthpiece with those super wide rails. I had Greg Weir take my modern Ebolin and do rail and chamber work on it to make it play like a vintage Ebolin.
Philtone did some work like that for me, and it turned out fantastic.

So I was not totally happy with the alto sound with the Gigliotti and have been looking for alternatives for a fatter/darker sound. This morning I decided to try a Legere sig 2.25 an 2.5 tenor reed on it. Oh man, I should have tried this sooner, what a great sounding combo, much fuller sounding and the palm keys come out bright and strong, the lowest notes take a little more care but aren't any more difficult than my tenor. I think I'm through with alto reeds on this, saves a few bucks spent on expensive Legere alto reeds.

Pretty much quit playing the tenor Gigliotti after getting my Link NY, they play very different so it's best to stick with the Link. I was going to give up on the alto version too and get a Tone edge but then I tried the tenor reeds on it, no need to get something else, it sounds great.

I tried the Spectrum a couple of times and just did not like the way it sounded.
