It's amazing to me as a musician, how many guitar player's do not know his solos (or many of his tunes). I will be on a gig and a tune of his will get called or requested and the keyboard player and I usually end up splitting the solo section/lead lines or doing them together. Without rehearsing and sometimes without even working them out. They are so memorable. His work really leaves a significant mark on those who like to listen with their ears and not with their eyes and egos.

Dr. G, thanks so much for the link. I hadn't ever seen that and watching the trailers it brought tears to my eyes, both of joy for the beauty of the music and performances, and sadness for his early demise. His music has been such a part of the soundtrack of my life (since the days of Beatle-mania) that it's become some kind of autonomic force at a celluar level and hearing it is like being vibrationally reinvigorated with a deeper part of my own self. Then too, seeing and hearing Billy Preston, who also was felled too early by disease, was very moving. He was such a dynamic performer that he could lift anyone's spirits and make them dance and sing. The other thing that this brought to mind is how spiritually strong G. H. was, especially in facing his own death. I have to marvel at that because I don't have that kind of inner faith and equanimity and so doubt I will face my own death as calmly and peacefully as he did his. At any rate the idea of it is not one I can face at the moment in that frame of mind.

I watched the superb documentary recently. It was very sensitively done. I thought George's Scouse humour came over very well. I particularly liked the bit
with Ringo talking of visiting George in hospital in his last days in Switzerland. Ringo was apologising about having to leave and fly to Boston to see his daughter who had a brain tumour. George lying there said " Do you want me to come with you?" What a great human being George was.
