I was just alerted to this video by Ethan Iverson's newsletter. It is making my day!

Great treasure to have this video, but thanks to audio quality, the varitone, or whatever, his vaunted sound sure can't be appreciated on this clip. Looks like George Freeman on guitar.

They've also got a Don Byas clip from the same series:

Their link mentions that this is the series that taped Coleman Hawkins just weeks before his death in 1969, but I'm not seeing that one on youtube.

Great footage of Don Byas. Hopefully he may upload the Coleman Hawkins footage?
Might be more sad than anything because Hawkins was not in good shape at the time. Chilton's biography Song of the Hawk has Dan Morganstern, the producer of the show, recounting the details.

Loved the up version of Jungle Strut. Too bad they lost from the guitar solo on.

Didn't like the 'octivator' sound. I heard Lou Donaldson with Dr. Lonnie Smith back when those were popular. Totally screwed up Lou's sound.

Thanks for the Gene Ammons link.
I remember seeing the Don Byas show when it was on PBS. Love it.
