One would think that these are manufactured in China. They don't give complete specs on the bari, but some of the altos only go from low C to high D. They've eliminated those keys for easy facilitation for the small hands for beginning students.

According to Wiki, the parts are manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana, sent to Taiwan for assembly, then sent back to Elkhart for testing and adjusting. Hmmm...
Hmm, really? Sounds kind of backwards for this day and age. Also, I didn't know they made any instruments in Elkhart anymore. Anyway, as I recall didn't you just get a Buescher a short time ago? I'm not a bari player so my advice might not be the best, but I think when you decide to go to a more modern horn check out the Yamaha 62 or 52.
