After hearing some of Eric Whitacre's music, he quickly became one of my favorite composers. I just heard Godzilla Eats Las Vegas recently... it's a bit of a departure from October, Lux Aurumque, and Ghost Train, isn't it? Still, that song is hilarious! I'm still chuckling to myself over Elvis's entrance. Do you all have any thoughts on that song or other Whitacre music that you'd like to share?

We played October in concert band, if that is the same song. Very stirring.

Can you post a link to somewhere I can hear this Godzilla song?

When I taught HS, my top group performed Ghost Train and Godzilla Eats Las Vegas. Very difficult pieces. My students enjoyed working on them immensely!

Well, I couldn't find a link to just a recording, but you can youtube it to see a couple of different bands performing it. I actually think that it's much funnier to watch a performance of it than to listen, since most bands have some sort of visual aspect to go along with it. Personally, I have Whitacre's album with that song on it (The Music of Eric Whitacre), so that's how I heard it. I also must agree that October is a superb piece of music.
