I am in the market for a baritone sax, but I have no idea what tip opening I should use on the baritone. I use a Runyon metal Quantum # 8 (about .100) on my tenor. What would the equivalent be on a Bari? What is a good mouthpiece of the bari?

A .110 on baritone would be the same as what you have. Try a couple pieces out and see what feels best.

I play a .110 on both horns. Seems like people get lots of mileage out of the HR Bergs--might be a good place to start.

I use Link HR 7 on both (.100 on tenor, .110 on bari).

Players use anywhere from the same tip on tenor and bari to .020" larger on bari. I use about the same.

From Tenor to Baritone

Thanks guys. Since a tip opening of .100 with #3 reed on tenor feels pretty easy for me, I think I'll start with a tip opening of .110 on baritone and see how that works. Most of the sax players I know in my area use a metal mouthpiece on their tenor, but seem to like the HR on baritone. I don't know if that holds true for most other players. I'll start with the HR Berg and see how that feels. Thanks again.
