Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help me out here. I recently purchased a Francois Louis Ultimate ligature for alto. (The XLAB model, which supposedly fits all hard rubber alto mouthpieces.) It does not fit. It's almost like it was made too small. I play a Vandoren V16 A5 mouthpiece.

Has anyone else run into this problem?? Thanks. I am wondering if I should try a tenor francois louis ligature instead??

Thank You.

Have you tried squeezing the lig a little top-to-bottom when sliding it on the mouthpiece? If you CAN get it on this way, it will hold itself in place on the piece and make setting it up, tuning, and changing reeds much easier than they would have been had it slid on loosely from the start.

You can return it and get a Tenor in a L and It should fit. Mine does anyways.

Or return it, get your money back, and use a basic 2-screw lig, which will fit better and work better.
