This is an early advert for the B&S model 2001. Published in 1998-99. I don't think anyone has posted it here before.

Really decent saxophones and brass, they just never caught on. I was working at the Saxophone Shop in Evanston and our warehouse was shipping these out for the American Market. I wish I bought a low A baritone that B&S made.

Yes, they didn't catch on but the trumpets and low brass seem to be doing well. I had one of the baritones. It was good but not great.

Interesting that you worked in the Sax Shop Evanston. Any stories about working there or other B&S gossip?
Used my B&S-made Guardala alto on a recording session today and it's still my favorite alto saxophone... ever... period. I wish I'd bought one of each Allora model while B&S was making them.

Looks like there's a 2001 tenor on Reverb right now for like $1100 or something silly like that. Someone get it. These are world-class instruments and still so very undervalued.

You can also find out more by looking at the Dave Guardala sax brochures on the 'Bassic Sax Blog'. B&S could have made it 'the big five' instead of 'the big four' with the total quality they had in their saxes. I feel fortunate to have one.
