for you collectors: a rare curved Selmer soprano in silver plate.
(with a case & an old soloist mouthpiece too)
looks in nice condition when magnified in the flash player

auction is in London on 10th September, lot 276.

http://www.bonhams.com/ & type Selmer or saxophone

and it has nothing to do with me, BTW. Good luck.

An upturned Soprano " Model 22" Saxophone by Selmer,
Paris 1924
Stamped 4 Place Dancourt Paris France H. Selmer A Paris Modele 22 No 3309 Bell diameter 96mm of silvered metal, in good condition with accessories in old lined and fitted case.

Estimate: £600 - 700, €890 - 1,000

The "upturned" seems to refer to the mouthpiece in the photo (it's on upside down) !

Looks like the range is just to Eb.

Is that estimate a decent price for a horn like this (roughly US$1200-1400) ?

It will bring at least twice that price. Also that looks to be a scroll shank mouthpiece which can bring about $500+ US.

that's what I was thinking. They're a rare bird these days.
The straight Modele 22 in the same sale is more my kinda thing (& price range) but those weird inline palm keys scare me a bit.

is the Modele 22 any good? same bore & body tube as the six ???? value??
