Question:

Looking for a rugged, portable ( folding ?) stool or chair, with a back to lean back on, to carry for performances, playing Alto and Tenor.

The most comfortable chair I use at home for practice is a 25" to seat height, with a back, laboratory chair -> so this seat height of 24" is what I think is labeled as a "counter top" height chair is what I'm looking for. This height makes it easy on my old knees to get to a standing position if needed during a performance session.

What do you use ? What product have you found to be a good solution ?

Thanks !

Hello,
Don't know if you'll ever see this since I'm on double-secret probation, but I'll give it one last try.
I use one of these:

It's sturdy and reasonably portable. I usually leave the backrest at home, but it wouldn't be that much more to transport. The footrest seemed unreasonably high (originally bought this for upright bass) so I relocated it to about 8 inches off the floor, which required some welding. Not really an issue if you keep both feet on the floor.

I ended up getting this "guitar chair" on eBay..I like it a lot .....unfortunately, it seems this chair is no longer in production.
It's quite rugged, very comfortable, and the perfect height to go from sitting to standing. ( 24" to the seat height)
It easily folds up for portable transport...I just wish more were commercially available so that we could get this for all the players in the small combo group I play in...

here is a 360 degree picture of the chair :

UPDATE - I contacted the Manufacturer ( Athletic company), and asked if they still produced this chair, and if it was available in the USA...

they didn't answer the first question, but DID say that soon they will have a US distributor, and to contact them :

I've sent an inquiry to them on this item......

I have a couple of portable stools for my summer house and picnics. Most of these stools are very comfortable, and I bought them from the https://furniturevogue.co.uk/bar-stools site. They have a good range of portable chairs/stools so you can find the more comfortable option in your situation. I recommend you look into the LPD Rafferty Carver Wooden Barstool model. Especially this is under discount right now, is only for 277.99$. I'm sure you will find a perfect model for yourself in this shop. Have a great day, HikerLT!
