Well my friend, I have been a touring musician for almost 40 years and I can assure you that there is "no" safe case to fly your bari with, just check out this thread and reed the horror stories from all of those who did. When airline personnel take the horns out of the case, there is no protecting them. As for your destroyed tenor, why would you ever let it out of your hands? It doesn't need to be checked. Backup bari on a cruise ship! ha, this is a kid right out of school, he can't afford his own bari let alone a backup, he needs the gig and is just starting out. It's easy to be critical when you have money, but most musician are just trying to get by. I have an anvil case for road bari's that i rent and even then they have been damaged, now how did that happen? It sure wasn't in the case.
