Hi everyone,
My main instrument is saxophone, and I've been playing flute for about 3 months now, and I'm kinda in a pinch.
My band director at my high school has asked me to play flute in the wind ensemble because we have a very limited amount of flute players (yes, kinda surprising that a high school band actually doesn't have a whole lot of flutes...i'm quite appalled myself...)
Technically, I'm still in the elementary stages of the flute, and I'm already playing advanced wind ensemble flute parts. I am at some advantage because of the near-exactness of saxophone to flute fingerings, however I am quite overwhelmed. Being asked to go from elementary to advanced suddenly is quite an honor, but however, it is also a healthy, constructive, and monumental challenge.
I would appreciate some advice, if any...I have already stepped up my practice routine on the flute considerably, so I can hopefully "catch up."
Any advice would be great. Thank you.
